CHARACTER
NAME: โ€œDabiโ€
CANON: My Hero Academia
CANON POINT: Post-Chapter 240
BACKGROUND: Link.
SUITABILITY: Though seen largely through the lens of a class of schoolchildren going through a semester of a pro hero course, My Hero Academia is defined by its study on the nuances of morality in a world where superpowers are commonplace enough in people that they have become integrated into every level of society. If people have the ability to help someone in a dangerous situation, are they responsible if they fail to do so? What is the liability of someone if they attempt to help but only make things worse? How does society view people with so-called โ€œvillainousโ€ quirks, even if they themselves have no villainous inclinations? In a world where bystander syndrome is basically law, what happens to people who slip through the cracks? Of the League of Villains, Dabi represents the most principles-driven of their number: seemingly wronged by heroes and hero society as a whole, he seeks to tear it down brick by brick, insisting that in a world that celebretizes and monetarily incentivizes them, there are no โ€œtrue heroes.โ€ He eschews those he views as heroes and anything he might consider โ€œheroic,โ€ so being paired up with an okami spirit which judges morality on a very black-and-white axis and forces him against the grain of his convictions in order to reform or to punish him (or both) will be a fun challenge.

QUESTIONNAIRE:
โ— Your character finds an injured okami deep in the woods. Its leg is broken, trapped under a fallen tree, but itโ€™s clearly in good health otherwise. They know this type of youkai is able to discern the morality of their past actions, and can turn hostile to them based off that judgment. What do they do?
Even if the creature werenโ€™t an okami, Dabi would most likely leave them be. The only thing that might tempt him towards this atrocious one-time act of selflessness was if he felt there was anything to be gained from it, either for himself or for his long-term goals, but even that is a bit of a long shot. Given that he is both aware of the spiritโ€™s nature and how it would most likely judge him for his storied, villainous past and summarily become aggressive once freed, this would be a hard pass for him.
โ— Your character's worst enemy asks to meet alone by moonlight in a remote location, to discuss temporarily banding together against a larger threat. How do they respond to the invitation?
Dabi would most likely agree to the meeting, gain every scrap of knowledge he could about the location and anything else that might be tactically useful to him, and then set to setting some sort of elaborate trap or betrayal of trust that would best suit him and his aims. He wouldnโ€™t believe that there is any โ€œlarger threat.โ€ He has not been shown to be malleable in the slightest in his convictions; conversely, he has taken every opportunity in the past to make an absolute scene of situations in which he can gain the upper hand through deceit, trickery, or surprise.
โ— Your character has the option to lead a rampaging oni away from path where it would find and attack a lone, inhabited farmhouse. However, the only road they can distract it down leads to the city, where it will inevitably do more damage. What do they choose to do?
He does absolutely nothing, because he couldnโ€™t care less.
โ— A shrine of a powerful god offers your character a unique boon crafted to overcome the biggest challenge theyโ€™re currently facing. In return, it only asks to be able to possess your character for a 24 hour span of its choosing, which they will not necessarily get warning for. How do they feel about the exchange, and more importantly, do they accept it?
This is an offer that Dabi would take. He believes strongly that a single person with a single powerful enough conviction can change the world so, to him, this would merely be an avenue to actualize that belief. He has a history of dedicating himself to others in a similar way so long that he believes that it will serve as a stepping stone towards his own goals. Dabi came out of relative obscurity as a villain to join Shigarakiโ€™s League of Villains, and though later he claims to not give a shit about any of them individually or Shigarakiโ€™s overarching ambitions, he remains with them because they are useful to himโ€”just as he has been useful to them in the past. Considering he has been one of Shigarakiโ€™s underlings for several months, giving his body over to a god for just twenty-four paltry hours would seem like a trade too good to pass up, especially if it would tear down hero society once and for all.
